| | So I finished the Study guide for the exams. But I think I'm going to go over it again and again until I go for the test. I'm still not feeling motivated enough for the workouts, but I am definitely much more physically active than i've been in a long time.
I'm pretty sure the main thing I need to work on from the study guide is catching small details in witness descriptions. Things that don't fit with what the rest of the witnesses said. Like long sleeves, shoes, ear rings, etc.
I think what I'm best at is re-ordering protocol. It gives you the standard procedure for certain situations step by step, but in the wrong order... So I have to figure out what comes up first. Mostly common sense though, but after I order it, it gives a little story and stops when the officer gets to a certain step and then asks me which one is next.
I'm feeling more confident that I'll pass, but I need to do more than just pass. They rank you by your test scores to see who gets into the academy. Highest scores go in first, and there's only so many slots open.
If I pass the written exam, I go back 10 days later for the physical tests.
If I pass the physical tests, I go back for Scenario Evaluations. Veteran officers put me in hypothetical situations just to see what my natural reactions would be, and what I would do to take control of the situation. (this is probably the one I'll have trouble with, even though they said its not really a scored test, or anything, they just want to know where I'm at in terms of training level and capability.)
If the Scenario Evaluations end well, I need to get a recommendation from Chief William McManus. I'm not sure about what I would have to do here... Meet with him, or if he just browses my files, or what.
If I get the Recommendation, I then have to get Approved by the San Antonio City Manager. Probably will be doing whatever McManus does.
If I get the approval, THEN I get appointed to the training academy and earn the rank of "Cadet".
Oh yeah... Then I have to actually PASS the academy....
